Water purifiers can use activated carbon filter elements. The activated carbon filter is used in water pretreatment systems to absorb residual chlorine from the previous stage. 4. Why would activated carbon filter elements be used in water purifiers? Dow's current reverse osmosis components consist mainly of low-pressure polyamide membranes. These membranes are susceptible to chlorine, particularly when exposed to heavy metal ions. This can cause long-term damage and easy oxidization. Tap water is a source of heavy metal ions that can cause membrane damage after activated carbon has failed. Tap water's residual chlorine and organic matter levels change, so it is difficult to replace activated carbon rods with calculations and estimates alone.


5. Why activated carbon filter element in water purifiers? The activated carbon filter element requires a minimum contact time for adsorption. Also, the water flow rate must not exceed 10 m/h. The standard JB/T2932-1999 "Technical conditions of water treatment equipment" states that activated carbon filters must have a water flow of at least 20 m/h to remove chlorine. Water flow rates of 10 m/h are required to remove organic matter from the water.
